EVERYDAY MENTOR - Andrew Gray - 88th Ed. "The JOY of Loss"

Hello Reader

I hope the past week has had some simplicity and peace in it for you!

I've got a short & punchy (yet hopefully powerful) idea for you today.

Let's get to it . . .

"The JOY of Loss"

Some loss is painful.

Some loss should be avoided.

Some loss cannot be avoided.

Life is a game of wins and losses. We all aspire to more of the former and less of the latter.

However; The LOSE you CHOOSE can be a BIG WIN!

In life we gather clutter and an excess of 'stuff'

Generally speaking, we have too much of everything.

Our cars don't fit in our garages because they are full of other stuff!

It's not just in the material world either. Without necessarily wanting to, we collect clutter emotionally & relationally also.

We are hoarders who seem unable to help themselves.

All of this gaining and acquiring though, usually just increases our anxiety, decreases our simplicity and dramatically diminishes our bandwidth.

We even have 'stuff' (tangible and non-tangible) that we don't remember wanting, let alone remember acquiring.

The lesson seems to be - Not All Gain is GOLD!

There are all manner of losses you can choose that will actually add joy.

Here are a few;

  • Material junk stored unused for years in our house
  • Clothes untouched for countless seasons that could bless someone less fortunate
  • Excess body weight
  • Bad attitudes
  • Unhealthy friendships
  • Social media accounts that just make you more jealous and more anxious
  • Subconsciously adopted goals inspired by other people's ambition
  • Non-essential events in your calendar
  • Time. Occasionally, intentionally burning some free time on nothing is truly a thing of beauty
  • So many more . . .

How many more items could you add to this list?

What do you think? Have you had a memorable moment when you chose to lose something and it made you feel better?

I am here to help you.

Please reach out any time by replying to this email.

Best Regards Always!
