EVERYDAY MENTOR - Andrew Gray - 89th Ed. "What Your SOUL CRAVINGS are Trying to Tell You"

Hello Reader

Appreciate you taking the time to read.

Always happy to hear feedback from readers regarding suggestions about how I can best help you . . .

"Soul Cravings"

If we allow ourselves enough time and opportunity to become self-aware people, we will discover new things about ourselves.

We will be better equipped to understand the things we do, and why we do them.

To be in tune with the understanding of our soul, and how it operates, is a true superpower, especially in a world that has become so superficial in pursuit of faux-success on show.

You see, a person who has acquired the skills to self-examine, and then be courageous enough to excavate beneath their feelings to unearth the source of things that have surfaced, is a person who understands that there are self-realised short cuts available to those who are willing to pay sufficient internal attention.

With this foundational thinking established, let's explore the idea of soul cravings.

I am referring to the very real existence of deeper emotional, relational and even spiritual appetites, that function in much the same way as does our appetite for food.

When we are hungry, we generally crave in two main ways. We crave sustenance to provide our energy needs, and secondly we crave sustenance to be delivered in our preferred taste and texture package.

Our souls have appetites also. They hunger for peace, rest, joy, contentment, fulfilment, purpose, love, intimacy, laughter, significance, nostalgia, solitude, quiet, simplicity and more.

Sadly, our modern world has us running around so busy and stressed, that we have learned to believe in the false notion that intentionally servicing the needs of our soul is a luxury expense, and only as a last resort.

We are collectively poorer as a result of this misguided thinking. In fact, some of us have become so poor that our souls are nigh on bankrupt. We have bought the lie with the highest price and sold the truth for pennies.

Do you ever find your soul longing for another taste of the items listed above? Perhaps more stillness? Maybe some more quiet? Possibly even a renaissance of joy derived from simplicity?

If you do friend, this is your soul trying to talk to you. It's trying to tell you it feels malnourished. You've fed your body. You've over-fed your mind. Yet your soul exists in a virtual state of famine aching to get your attention.

Are you able to recognise when this is happening inside you? Have you learned the sound of the warning bells trying to alert you that all is not well on the inside?

Do you realise that your soul cravings plus the engagement of your imagination are trying to guide you into healthier choices?

When you feel like you've had enough of the pressure and stresses around you, and your mind starts wandering off to your favourite quiet place, do you understand what is happening? It's unlikely (despite what you may want to believe), that what you need most is to retire from work, disappear to a tropical island and never have to talk to people again. This will not make all your problems go away. When you feel this way, what is far more likely, is that your soul is screaming at you about your rhythms being out of balance. Your soul is yelling from the rooftops to get your attention that what is desperately needed is more contrast. The alarm is being sounded loud and clear that your priorities have become lopsided and your soul is suffering from neglect.

At this moment, if all of this sounds like I'm describing your life, it's vital to remember the foundational truth. All success in life is determined by the health of our Inner-Life. Fruit from Root, not the other way around.

You MUST attend to the needs of your soul to have any measurable success in this journey of life. It might not be easy (especially if you have tried to build backwards from outer to inner), but the inner work must be done.

So, is your soul craving something right now? What is it trying to tell you? Are you listening? Do you even have the skills to recognise, or do you need help?

And the biggest question of all . . . What are you going to DO?

Without a bias to action, nothing will ever change!

My multi-decade experience as an expert practitioner in these matters tells me that anyone can incorporate this into their life if they really want lasting change.

Despite the fact that I won't continue operating my counselling business forever, if you feel you need specialist help with this topic or others I have written about, I will include a link to my booking calendar if you would like to consider that option for your growth.

I am here to help you.

Please reach out any time by replying to this email.

Best Regards Always!
