Hello Reader
Today is the second instalment in a 3 part series, that when applied with expert skill will literally transform the way you live your life!
It is vital that you understand and absorb all 3 articles as a connected experience.
As previously mentioned, I will soon be launching a powerfully unique development program built on the same concepts contained in this mini-series, for those who want the opportunity to work directly with me to significantly improve the trajectory of their life!
"Get Growing"
Most people I speak with have a normal appetite for personal growth and development. It is part of the human experience to want to grow, develop and experience progress in life.
Whilst there is certainly disparity in the level of growth desire that different people have, this is not the most common struggle that exists when people try to achieve a growth outcome.
Most people struggle with knowing where to start. Taking the first few steps in a strategic direction is often the most uncertain part of the whole process.
That is exactly what I intend to help you with today. Knowing where to start and how to go about it.
Before we get too deep into the body of this lesson, it is essential to be reminded of the connected nature of the process at hand. Remember;
Upgrade is preceded by Personal Growth.
If you want to get Upgraded, you have to get Growing.
Personal Growth is preceded by Getting Unstuck.
If you want to Get Growing, you first have to Get Unstuck.
Get Unstuck > Get Growing > Get Upgraded
With this reminder of a connected process firmly established in our thinking, let's dive deeper into the journey of experiencing growth.
Getting unstuck prior to pursuing personal growth is so crucial. If you're trying to grow when you're still stuck, it's like having two strong men pulling at your arms and legs in opposite directions. You're going to feel an uncomfortable stretch.
Assuming we have done the deep inner-work to get unstuck, we can now acknowledge that we are starting the growth journey from a beautiful new foundation. A clean start from a firm foundation gives confidence that what you build will stand the test of time, much like a house built on rock, rather than sand!
Let's begin with a big question - What's the point of personal growth anyway?
Well, naturally your answer to that question is going to be highly personalised depending on what you want out of life. However, generically we can assume the following positive outcomes as a minimum benchmark;
- Greater awareness of the world around you and your purpose in it
- Ability to add strength to others in a uniquely beneficial way
- Emerging self-confidence
- Increasing perspective about your unique strengths and talents
- Capacity to rebound from setbacks
- Robust ability to breakthrough challenges
- Progress towards a life of convergence
You might be thinking "That all sounds great, but is it really possible for me?"
Not only are these results possible, I guarantee you can achieve them if you let me lead you through the process. How can I be so confident you might ask.
The truth is that I have successfully guided people through this journey literally hundreds of times.
What type of personal growth should we be aspiring to?
Again, there is going to be a degree of personalised strategy when responding to this question. However, I have identified at least 5 key areas of life that can be targeted for significant and measurable growth;
- Relationships - So many people suffer from negative and destructive relationships in their life, but it doesn't have to be this way. Growth can be achieved in such a manner that these types of relationships will decrease and you start attracting the type you really need and want.
- Inner-Life Health & Sustainability - External success is established and maintained by wise management of your Inner-Life. Without it, external growth will be unsustainable and inevitably fade.
- Specific Talent Development - Talent alone is never enough. There is no shortage of talented people in the world. Everyone is talented. What is needed is partnership with a skilled expert to maximise the potential of your talent. This process has been my bread and butter for decades.
- Communication Mastery - The ability to confer to other people concepts and ideas in such a way that your language triggers ultra-clear imagery in their mind is truly a superpower. Great communicators will never be short of opportunities in life.
- Leadership Acumen - Every sector of life is crying out for healthy, quality leadership. Learn even the basics of this 'in-demand' discipline, and the world will be your oyster.
One of the most beautiful realities of getting growing, is the power of 'Compounding Momentum'
Any sense of momentum in life is like the rarest of gold, however, when it comes to personal growth, the momentum gets compounded and multiplied. Every single little action that creates forward progress, directly and positively impacts the ability to make forward progress in every other area.
Compounding Momentum!
When it comes to Personal Growth, there are many factors that drive the energy to make it happen. Some of them are internal factors. Others are external. I have identified what I believe to be the top 5 Growth Catalysts.
It is vital to understand each, and the role they will play in your own journey of growth. Here they are;
- Intentional Learning - Knowledge is power. There is no growth without adding to your knowledge base. This means reading, researching and questioning people further ahead than you.
- Self-Discipline - This is not a talent. This is a muscle. It's a mental muscle, and it can be taught, which means it can be learned.
- Masterful Mentoring - The most effective Mentors on the planet are gifted for it, skilled in it and experienced at it, with undeniable results that they know what they are doing. I include myself in this category.
- Mission Push - Few things in life will get you moving forward like the realisation that what we have is for giving away to others. To know that there are people waiting on the other end of your growth and strength gives you a reason to get going. The opposite is also true. Narcissism and hedonism will shrink you faster than a piece of plastic in a microwave oven.
- Vision Pull - To dream of future possibility is true liberty. Every invention, every business, every family, every worthwhile project began life as a tiny idea inside someone's imagination. Vision is the supercharger that adds velocity to our growth curve.
In this instalment of our mini-series on "Getting Unstuck - Getting growing - Getting Upgraded" I want to leave you with 5 immediate practical actions that you can (and should) take if you truly want to experience growth in your personal life. Here they are;
- Ensure that you have achieved getting unstuck in the manner described in our previous lesson.
- Cultivate a vision for growth in your imagination. Use self-talk to ask the question "what would I like my life to look like?" Answer the question with pictures.
- Commit to an action bias. This means to make up your mind that you will actually do something about all of this.
- Determine if you are actually willing and ready to pay the price. The journey is not free. It will cost you time, energy, money and priority adjustment. However, the price is so worth it!
- Commence a brand new habit of asking "WHO Before How?" You will not get to where you want to go on your own. If you could have, you already would have. You will need help. Just accept this as true!
